1700 AD INDIA KHMER BRAHMA HEAD
A four-faced head of Brahma in the post-Angkor Bayon style, its piled dreadlock crown (jatamukuta) faceted to serve all four faces and secured with a string of pearls. The style originates with the 12th-13th century Bayon temple at Angkor Thom, built under Jayavarman VII, though this particular piece, dated 1700 in the archive, would belong to a much later continuation of the tradition; despite the archive filename's "India" tag, the style and iconography are unmistakably Khmer, meaning Cambodian.
